NodePing Check Types

NodePing Check Types

NodePing has a variety of check types that allow you to set protocol specific parameters for your monitoring. For example, the HTTP Check type is used to monitor the initial response of a web site, and issues an HTTP request. Each of the check types listed here understand the protocol specific requirements for monitoring the ability of your Internet services.

  • Audio Stream - The Audio Check can monitor your audio streams (includingIcecast and SHOUTcast) to ensure they are available. We also offer an optional volume detection feature (Premiere plans only)
  • Cluster - Group together interdependent checks and receive alerts and track availability of the group of checks as a whole.
  • DoH/DoT - DNS over HTTPS (DoH) and DNS over TLS (DoT) services provide DNS over more secure methods. The DoH/DoT Check is used to ensure those services are responding as expected and supports client SSL certs.
  • DNS - DNS translates host and domain names (such as www.example.com or nodeping.com) into IP addresses. The DNS Check is used to ensure that a DNS server is up and responding as expected. Our DNS Check understands a variety of DNS query types.
  • FTP - Our FTP Check not only alerts you when your FTP service stops functioning properly but will also optionally monitor the presence of a specific file on the service.
  • HTTP - HTTP Checks confirm if a page is up and responding with the expected status codes.
  • HTTP Content - HTTP Content Checks are very similar to HTTP Checks, except that HTTP Content Checks look for a specific word (string) in the data returned in the response in addition to checking the status code and response time.
  • HTTP Parse - The HTTP Parse Check allows you to monitor, track, and graph arbitrary values provided by a web server.
  • HTTP Advanced - HTTP Advanced Checks provide more granular control of either the request or the response verification. They take a little more knowledge to configure, but they add more advanced capabilities, such as the ability to set the method (POST, PUT, and so on), set headers, and post forms.
  • IMAP4 - IMAP is a common email client protocol. Our IMAP Check can verify that user logins and your SSL/TLS certificates are also functioning properly.
  • MongoDB - Monitor MongoDB server availability and optionally verify query results.
  • MTR - The MTR Check can detect and indicate where packet loss or routing issues are happening.
  • MySQL - Monitor MySQL availability and optionally verify query results.
  • NTP - Use our NTP (Network Time Protocol) Check when you want to monitor the uptime of your NTP servers or to receive alerts when private servers become publicly available.
  • MTR - Monitor PostgreSQL availability and optionally verify query results.
  • PING - Our PING Check sends a real ICMP ping. It is great for checking availability of network devices like routers, and checking if a server is up independent of other services that are running on it.
  • POP3 - POP is another common email client protocol. Like the IMAP Check, in addition to checking that the server is responding properly to connections, this check can verify that user logins and your SSL/TLS certificates are also functioning properly.
  • Port Connect - The Port Connect Check performs a simple TCP network connect call on any port you specify. It simply reports if a connection was possible or not.
  • PUSH - PUSH checks allow you to send heartbeats and metrics from your servers to NodePing using an HTTP request (REST). Use a PUSH check for things like monitoring your servers that are behind firewalls, tracking CPU load, or getting alerts before you run out of disk space.
  • RBL - The RBL Check monitors for the presence of your IP or domain name in a number of common black lists.
  • RDP - Monitor the availability of your Windows Remote Desktop service on port 3389.
  • RBL - Our Redis check can monitor the availability of Redis services in standalone, sentinel, or cluster configurations.
  • SIP - SIP is commonly used for voice and video communications. NodePing's SIP monitoring can verify that your SIP server is responding to new requests.
  • SMTP - SMTP is the core email transfer protocol. These checks can not only verify that your server is accepting email properly but that user logins and your SSL/TLS certificates are also functioning properly.
  • SNMP - SNMP is used to track numeric values like system load, available RAM, and uptime for compatible devices like routers, printers, and servers.
  • Spec10DNS - DNS monitoring in accordance with the ICANN Registry Agreement Specification 10, paragraph 3.
  • Spec10RDDS - WHOIS monitoring in accordance with the ICANN Registry Agreement Specification 10, paragraph 4.
  • SSH - NodePing's SSH Checks can be used to ensure the availability of your SSH services, as well as optionally monitor the output from a successful login via password or private key.
  • SSL - SSL provides the encryption for websites and other Internet services. The SSL Check can be used to ensure the validity of your SSL certificates, ensure that your web servers are handling the certificate correctly, and warn you well before your certificates expire, giving you time to renew them.
  • WebSocket - WebSocket Checks can be used to monitor the availability of RFC-6455 and older Socket.io (0.9.X) compatible WebSocket services.
  • WHOIS - Get warnings when a domain is about to expire. Verify text is included or missing from the WHOIS reply. Verify your WHOIS server is responding properly.
